Can I use a USB- Serial converter with a Fast K- COM cable?

Serial diagnostic cables can be used only with USB- Serial converters with FTDI microchips. These microchips are available in original XEX-CAN-USB cables producesd by ROSS-TECH company. We offer a reliable Adapter USB - Serial port RS232.

I own an emission station and according to the law every emmision station must have an error reader ECU. Do you have any of this equipment in your offer?

Back to the content

The universal form of the obligatory diagnostics for an emission station is incorporated into §44 paragraph 3, law no 56/2001 Digest, as amended by previous works.

We offer diagnostics equipment U480.which fully satisfies these requirements. This equipment supports all the communication standards EOBD, OBDII and the newest interace CAN-Bus. Therefore you can use U480 for diagnostics even with the newest types of cars. U480 supports American standards VWP (GM) and PWM (Ford) as well. This budget-priced equipment is fully capable of reading and erasing errors and reading data.

In case you are thinking about establishing a workplace, we do recommend to order an affiliated equipment U281 CAN-VAG with an adapter 2x2. This equipment is aimed for specific company diagnostics (except from EOBD standard) of all VW/Škoda/Audi/Seat vehicles from the end of the 80's up to the newest models with CAN-Bus. According to the law you do not have to provide diagnostics to vehicles not compatible with the EOBD standard, however considering how many older cars we meet on our roads we are sure this equipment is inevitable. This equipment can also diagnose the control unit of ...., ABS, airbags and erase memory function. The price is the same as for U480.

If you are interested in detailed car diagnostics, we recommend to get a pc or a notebook with special hardware and software. We offer a special set of cables HEX-CAN-USB with the program VAG-COM 512CZ that covers both diagnostics of concern cars VW/Škoda/Audi/Seat and standardized diagnostics of other cars withing the OBDII and EOBD norms. It does not cover most of the American vehicles though.

I own Renault Scenic 1,6 16V vintage year 2001. I would like to know what kind of cable or software is necessery for this model. Can I use VAG-COM?

Back to the Content

Your Renault 1,6 16V / 2001 corresponds to the OBDII/EOBD - ISO standard, as well as other Renault cars made after 2001.

Program VAG-COM is primary aimed at VW/Škoda/Audi/Seat vehicles. Therefore the older version of VAG-COM will not be compatible with your car. Since VAG-COM 500.1 version, there is support for OBDII (EOBD) implemented in the program that will work for your car under the button "OBDII". A suitable connection cable to use for VAG-COM (an updated version is 512) is a HEX-CAN-USB cable. We offer this cable ofr 4.190,- Kc. VAG-COM 512 ENG program is for free on its producer`s site. The czech version of VAG-COM 512 is available with an original cable.

A cheaper option is the adaper ELM323. The advantage of this adapter is a wide range of supported diagnostic software and you can get most of this program as freeware.

Where can I find a diagnostic plug in my car?

Back to the content

Generaly, the OBD II cars have the plug inside the car, close to the driver, so the driver can reach it. The plug is usually on the lower part on the dash board above the pedals. Nevertheless, sometimes you may find it on the dash board or under the gear shift. Older cars might have it for example in the engine area.

A very useful link that could help you to find a plug in all the cars produced by the concern VW (VW / ŠKODA / AUDI / SEAT) is here.
